There is an exciting new website launching on 6/1 called kindrunner.com. The idea behind the site is simple. As runners, we have to buy shoes. Lots of shoes. Especially when we are training for a race. And of course, the larger runners out there, like me, tend to be even rougher on shoes and thus, require even more shoe purchases. This can leave a very large burden on the environment because a typical pair of shoes takes between 90 and 100 years to begin to decompose. Or, if you are like me, these shoes just pile up in your closet because you think you will find a use for them, even though we all know that this will not happen.
Kindrunner is shoe store with a mission. You will still receive expert advice and assistance with shoe orders, but there is an added bonus. If you trade in your old shoes, you will receive cash/credit towards the purchase of new shoes. You are going to buy new shoes anyway, and you need to do something with your old shoes, so why not get paid to do so while helping those in need?
And what is happening with these old shoes? They are being donated to those less fortunate than us. We may have maxed out the mileage on our shoes for running, but there is plenty of life left in them for someone that has no shoes. Soles 4 Souls and the More Foundation are a couple of examples of where your shoe donation will be going.
Even though the site does not launch until June 1, Kindrunner is having several giveaways on their various social media platforms. One example is for every 500 “likes” on Facebook, Kindrunner will be giving away a selected pair of running shoes to one lucky Facebook fan and a running partner of their choice, provided that the running partner is also a Facebook fan.
